Despite challenges and setbacks never faced before in the history of the industry, new hotels are sprouting up throughout the world faster than mushrooms in a dark, humid forest. The following new hotels scheduled to open in 2022 are among the most eagerly anticipated by both business and leisure travelers.

Located in the center of Canyons Village at Park City Mountain, the ski-in/ski-out resort will usher in a new era of hospitality in Park City with dining, programming and experiences that include a private fitness center and Spa Pendry, where a menu of signature treatments is designed as the perfect complement to your days in the mountains, indoors or out. Seamlessly blending the Thompson Hotels brand’s signature mid-century modern and urban style with a mountain-chalet ambiance, Thompson Denver will bring a fresh, locally inspired approach to the Mile High City. The 216-guestroom hotel will feature Chez Maggy, a sophisticated 90-seat, ground-floor restaurant by celebrated Chef Ludo Lefebvre; Reynard Social, a sixth-floor sunroom bar and lounge with a seasonally driven cocktail program, curated wine list, local beer selection, and alpine-inspired bites; and a 1,032 square-foot signature Thompson Suite.

Study Hotels continues its growth into top-tier university markets with the opening of its third property, The Study at University of Chicago. Featuring 167 reconfigured, deluxe room accommodations and inspired indoor/outdoor public spaces filled with natural light, the hotel is designed to encourage social interaction, reflection and rejuvenation. It embodies the academic spirit and personality of the campus through the unique design of signature Study units and suites, which feature plush leather chairs and ottomans, and expansive window facing desks. The hotel becomes a natural extension of the university with ample conference space for meetings and social gatherings.

HOTEL MARCEL

Hotel Marcel will debit as the nation’s first net-zero and Passive House certified hotel, generating 100% of its own electricity and setting the standard for a new era of environmentally conscious hospitality. Designed by New York City based Dutch East Design and purchased in 2020 by architect and developer Bruce Redman Becker of Becker + Becker, the hotel will feature 165 guest rooms and suites, full-service new American restaurant and bar, a lounge and 7,000 square feet of meeting and event space with penthouse courtyard and galleries. The hotel will be all-electric, generating electricity and energy for heat and hot water with a rooftop solar array and solar parking canopies.
