Historic Fincastle Festival: Celebrate the Town's 250th Birthday!

09-24-2022 9:00 AM - 09-24-2022 4:00 PM

Things to do at the Fincastle Festival:  visit vendors who are talented local and regional artists; shop the many vendors of jewelry, pottery, creations in wood, handmade items of all types, local authors, fabric and clothing items, and many fascinating items.  Throughout town there will be food available ranging from seafood to BBQ to hamburgers, pork rinds, french fries, ice cream, and so much more.  Music stages will be set up at two separate locations in town to provide music throughout the entire day.  Classic cars will be on display at various points in town.  For the young and the young at heart, there will be a petting zoo and pony rides available as well as displays of heritage toys which children in the 1700's and 1800's might have used, and which our little visitors can experience.

For history buffs, Revolutionary War interpreters will be camping (weather permitting) at the 18th century James Matten Early Cabin, along with representatives from the Monacan Native American Tribe.  At the historic Wysong Blacksmith Shop, local blacksmiths will be demonstrating their craft for the visitors.  At the Courthouse in the center of town, various speakers will present some of Fincastle's interesting history at specific times throughout the day...including a "visit from the first Clerk of the Court in 1772", and information about Fincastle's connection to the Lewis and Clark Expedition and to William Clark.
